Lovely catalog of the very new and remarkable Oslo Public Library, detailing the many forces intent upon making the new library prototype.It was a ten year project, on the extraordinary site of the Oslo City Hall, Opera House and harbor. It was an effort to include and expand and celebrate every force, every corner, every instinct of a public space, in a world deep into its own changes.  The ceiling must, the walls must, the stairs must, the windows absolutely must, the sense must, the surface must. It was a phenomenal race to be current, in a user way that had never yet been current, and relevant, in a way not even clearly clear what the needs for relevance would be. It has a thousand plateaus within it, a room for sewing, rooms for immersion and rooms for solitude, it is a form of public space and vertical commmunity. It is a workshop, a marketplace, a drawing room. It is a city of books, for all and all and all.
