A fine new monograph on the 40 year old Belgian interior designer Nicolas Schuybroek, a book that has only just been published. Schuybroek worked for Van Duysen, then in 2011 opened his own practice in Brussels. And now has his hands full all over the world.  There are 16 residential projects, three commercial buildings, including the Robey Hotel in Chicago, all photographed in full pages. There are some lovely black and white plans and sections. They are each a detail of modernism, in a minimalist cast, in colors soft, subtle and various. They are tone, not sound, they do not abrupt, these interiors. They hold their note, they keep their line - they are, in ways, the true perfect place of a book or a bowl. A vase or a note. The monograph has been beautifully designed by Javas Lehn, who is from Seattle and now has Studio Javas Lehn, in New York. The publisher is Hatje Cantz, in Berlin, one of the great art publishers in the world.
